Turkan Yildirim, PhD, LMFT
Dr. Turkan Yildirim is a bilingual (Turkish and English) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Advanced Health Care. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Halic University in Istanbul, Turkey and was awarded her Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. She is currently working on her dissertation in female self-compassion and expressive arts therapy to obtain her Ph.D. in Psychology.
Turkan began her clinical work in 2012 as a trainee at the community clinic of San Diego State University assisting clients with anxiety, depression, life changes, and an array of mental, emotional, and relational concerns. She has extensive experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and relational trauma as a therapist and crisis counselor. Her clinical experience also includes conducting individual, family, and group therapy with adolescents and families in a school-based mental health programs and foster care settings. Turkan also offered expressive arts group therapy in a homeless shelter to individuals impacted by substance abuse and addiction. Turkan has clinical training in a variety of modalities, including: Narrative therapy, trauma-focused CBT, mindfulness & compassion focused therapies, expressive art modalities, and EMDR. Turkan's work is influenced by the belief that a safe, genuine, and secure connection is essential to a person's well-being, as well as to provide competent and caring psychotherapy. She is passionate about collaborating with clients to work through anxiety, women’s issues, complex trauma, PTSD, attachment concerns, and relationship problems. Outside of the therapy room, Turkan enjoys art and music, as well as cooking Mediterranean food, hiking in the wilderness, and walking with her dog Bella. |
