Katie Cohn, MA, LMFT
Katie Cohn is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Advanced Health Care. She completed her undergraduate degree in Social Work at Seattle University and was awarded her Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. She has experience providing individual, family, parenting, and group therapy in an outpatient setting.
Katie began her clinical work at Rady’s Children’s Outpatient Psychiatry. While there, she conducted individual and family psychotherapy with adolescents and families who suffered from childhood disorders and family conflict. Katie then joined the Sharp Mesa Vista PTSD Trauma and Recovery team. Katie worked with active duty service members and survivors of trauma to address sleep disturbance, avoidance, somatic symptoms, isolation, distress tolerance, self-compassion, and loss of self. Katie joined the Advanced Health Care team in 2022. Katie is passionate about supporting individuals in navigating the effects of daily stress and anxiety to more complex issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicidality, life changes, codependency, attachment wounds, and self-esteem. She utilizes an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused techniques, and mindfulness-based interventions. Katie provides a safe and non-judgmental space for her clients to help quiet the inner critic and make empowered choices that align with their goals and values. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her two dogs and family. She loves to go on adventures with her daughter and explore beautiful San Diego. |
