Nassim Valery, MA, LMFT
Mrs. Nassim Valery, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Advanced Health Care. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Cal State University, San Marcos and was awarded her Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. Mrs. Valery has experience conducting individual, family and group therapy with children and adults in an outpatient setting. She has extensive experience assisting people of all ages work through depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, childhood disorders, and change of life difficulties. She specializes in the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy to assist her clients in meeting their personal goals, improving their mood, and functioning more effectively in their life.
Mrs. Valery began her clinical work during graduate school as a marriage and family therapist trainee for Rady’s Children’s Outpatient Psychiatry. While there, she conducted individual and family psychotherapy with children, adolescent and families who suffered from depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, relationship disturbances, and adolescent disorders such as ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. After this internship was completed, Mrs. Valery joined Counseling and Behavioral Specialists as an intern from 2012-2014 and then as a Licensed MFT from 2014 to 2016. In this role, she completed outpatient treatment, including providing counseling to children, adolescents and adults affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, endangerment, removal from the home and adoption. Mrs. Valery also provided treatment to parents, foster parents and caregivers needing support and education in raising children affected by trauma and abuse. She has conducted conjoint therapy sessions between perpetrating and/or non-protective parents and their children to address protective issues present in the home and to aid in reunification. In addition, Mrs. Valery facilitated a domestic violence victim group, provided therapy to clients of the Child Welfare System, and was involved in the juvenile dependency system. In 2016, Mrs. Valery joined the team at Advanced Health Care as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her specialties at Advanced Health Care include working with teenagers and young adults who are facing life stressors, who are uncertain of their future, or who are having difficulty managing their mood and relationships. She also works with adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, chronic pain, and chronic medical conditions. |
