Bindhu Davis, Ph.D., LMFT
Dr. Bindhu Davis is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. Dr. Davis received both her Masters and Doctorate of Psychology degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University in San Diego, CA. Her undergraduate studies were done at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she earned a B.A in Psychology and a B.A in Anthropology. Dr. Davis began her clinical work in 2003 when she interned at San Diego Hospice. There she provided bereavement counseling services to individuals, families, and groups. She gained invaluable training in the areas of grief and loss. She later returned to this site as a bereavement counselor, community educator, and mentor for interns in their Masters’ programs. At this time, she also ran multiple therapeutic groups including parent loss, child loss, sudden death, and multi-level family grief groups. She also contracted with the Medical Examiner’s office and had multiple clients on her caseload suffering from traumatic loss due to murder, suicide, and sudden accidental death. Overall, Dr. David has extensive training in working with survivors of grief and loss. She also presented various trainings for mental health professionals in the community on topics pertinent to grief and loss. After her internship, Dr. Davis managed a residential treatment facility for teen girls with severe emotional disturbances. Many of these clients had a long history of loss, abuse, and neglect, and Dr. Davis helped them work through attachment injuries, build self-esteem, and create goals for their futures.
Dr. Davis currently holds a position as Assistant Professor at The University of Phoenix in both their Bachelor and Master level programs and as a Licensed MFT Supervisor to interns gaining experience in the field. In 2017, Dr. Davis joined the team at Advanced Health Care as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her experience in the areas of grief and loss has prepared her well to serve her current population of those affected by work injuries. She has been working in the field of Worker’s Compensation since 2012. She is trained in the areas of Biofeedback and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, both of which have been proven effective for adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. She strives to empower her clients to use their inherent strengths to overcome the obstacles they are faced with. |
