Susie Blodgett is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families cultivate resilience, healing, and meaningful connection. She graduated magna cum laude from Bethel University’s San Diego Seminary with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She completed her undergraduate studies at San Diego State University, earning a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Psychology, Religion, and Philosophy.
Susie began her clinical work in 2017 as an intern at the Center for Mindful Relationships in Hillcrest. There, she provided counseling to a diverse range of clients and developed strong skills in mindfulness and compassion-based care. She also facilitated a weekly therapeutic group focused on anger management, helping participants better understand and regulate their emotional responses. As she continued to grow in the field, Susie co-facilitated an Intensive Outpatient Program at a residential treatment facility serving individuals living with severe depression and anxiety. She offered supportive counseling to family members navigating their loved one’s treatment journey and provided group therapy for inpatient clients seeking support for addiction. In addition, she conducted initial psychological intake assessments to help guide informed and individualized care. Before joining Advanced Health Care, Susie provided individual and couples therapy at two non-profit organizations—Center for Enriching Relationships and Hope for Healers. During this time, she received specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and the Gottman Method for couples, equipping her with evidence-based tools to support clients in meaningful and effective ways. She also offers faith-based counseling when requested. Susie’s therapeutic approach is grounded in hope, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience. She believes that individuals inherently possess the inner resources needed to create change and build fulfilling relationships; sometimes, they simply need compassionate guidance to uncover those strengths. Susie works collaboratively with clients to help them explore their beliefs, understand emotional patterns, and move through experiences of hurt, trauma, fear, anger, or sadness. With her warm and supportive presence, Susie aims to help you gain clarity, develop psychological flexibility, and build healthier coping strategies—empowering you to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and move toward greater emotional well-being and lasting personal growth. |
