Jennifer Bachtold, Ph.D., CADC-II
Dr. Jennifer Bachtold is a Psychological Assistant to Dr. Sarah Ray at Advanced Health Care. She completed her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. She was awarded her Master’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in addiction studies from Northcentral University in Prescott, Arizona. Dr. Bachtold then received her Doctorate of Psychology degree in the fall of 2015. She is also a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor- II and Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor. Dr. Bachtold has experience conducting individual and group therapy with adolescents and adults in an array of clinical settings ranging from inpatient residential, detox, and group home settings to outpatient facilities, in home care, and jail facilities.
Dr. Bachtold began her clinical work during graduate school as a substance abuse counselor for a residential treatment facility and was also contracted to work inside the local county jail facility to assess and admit inmates court-ordered to treatment programs into residential treatment. There she administered substance abuse assessments and provided co-occurring treatment through individual and group cognitive behavioral therapy along with process and educational groups. During this time, she also worked in a group home with adolescent male sex offenders where she provided individual basic skills training (BST) along with psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) and facilitated skill groups. After her time at the group home, she started working as a behavioral specialist providing BST and PSR to individuals in their own homes through a company for therapy and behavior consultation. After moving to California, she began working at Turning Point Crisis house, where she worked with adults with severe mental illness who were in immediate crisis. Dr. Bachtold conducted individual therapy and facilitated anxiety, CBT and DBT groups. After this experience she began her work with the Sheriff’s Department as a correctional counselor working with inmates on their adjustment to incarceration, promotion of pro-social behavior, and preparation of reintegration into society. She also performs needs assessments of inmates as it relates to criminal behavior and facilitates group counseling of drug education and cognitive behavioral therapy groups. She is also a suicide prevention specialist and is on the crisis response team for active crisis within the jail. Dr. Bachtold has experience delivering many evidenced-based therapies through group and individual therapy, providing individual short-term and long-term psychotherapy, assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning. In 2015, Jennifer joined the team at Advanced Health Care as a Psychological Assistant to Dr. Sarah Ray. As a Psychological Assistant, she is working under the direct supervision of licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Ray. However, she conducts sessions independently, one-on-one with her clients, and meets weekly with Dr. Ray to discuss the progress of her cases. |
