Denali Lyons, MA, APCC
Denali Lyons is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor at Advanced Health Care. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego.
Denali began her clinical work supporting and advocating for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families, helping them regain autonomy in their lives. She later gained experience in outpatient settings for Serious Mental Illness, where she provided crisis intervention, individual and group therapy to clients from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and gender identities. Her work includes supporting individuals navigating major life transitions, traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, interpersonal challenges, and issues of self-esteem. Denali has a particular interest in trauma-informed therapy, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance, allowing her to assist clients in reclaiming control of their internal environment and developing healthier coping mechanisms. Denali believes in the importance of understanding how past experiences influence present behavior, and she works to help clients reconnect with a sense of meaning in their lives. Drawing from Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioral philosophies, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, to create tailored treatment plans that match clients' current needs. Creating a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic environment is central to Denali's approach. She values client vulnerability and fosters authentic connections that encourage self-exploration and personal growth. Committed to lifelong learning, Denali actively seeks opportunities for professional development in this field to enhance her skills and provide the best support for her clients. Outside of work, Denali enjoys a hot tea with a good book, getting her hands dirty gardening, and exploring all that nature offers with her partner and their quirky dog, Tuck. |
